FAQ

What size should a YouTube thumbnail be?

1280×720 to 1920×1080 at 16:9 is the most common choice. YouTube asks for the highest resolution you can provide, with a minimum width of 640px, JPG or PNG, up to 2MB from mobile and 50MB from desktop.

What size is best for an Instagram feed post?

Width 1080px with a ratio between 1.91:1 and 3:4. 4:5 (1080×1350), 1:1 (1080×1080) and 3:4 (1080×1440) all fit; anything outside that range gets cropped.

Where do these numbers come from?

Rows marked "Official" were checked in the platform's own help documents on 2026-10-03, and the Source link opens the original page. Other rows are commonly used recommendations and are labeled as such.

Can I make an image at that size right away?

Yes. Each row has a "Make now" button that opens the matching free editor with the size already set.
